All 3 presidential candidates have said they support a path for illegal immigrants to gain legal residency.
Though some would argue this isn't fair, U.S doesn't exactly have a clean record of being fair, brush up on your history and you might recollect that the U.S was founded by colonist who were foreigners to the land, killed Native Americans and stole their land not to mention that little war with Mexico which got them Texas,California, New Mexico and all those other states still bearing their spanish names. So for America to have an anti-immigrant attitude is quite laughable, I mean with the exception of Native Americans (& actually they migrated here too), everyones ancestors came from elsewhere.
The issue of immigrants probably would have gone under the public mainstream radar longer, if there had not been a 9/11, next thing you know we've got a Homeland Security talking about border problems, and it being a threat to national security, like Al-Qaeda, really was going to be walking through there.
Many want all illegal immigrants out, and many local governments and law enforcements have complied with police officers now acting as custom officials and raids being increased, it is understandable deporting those that commit a felony or have a rap sheet, but others are just trying to make a living, and other than how they got into this country, follow the law.
But the point is many of these illegal immigrants have families, children born in this country (who are pretty americanized), with businesses and homes, they all can't be deported, thats just a reality. If the U.S wants to halt the flow of immigration fine, but what about the illegal immigrants living here now, what to do with those who have established their lives here?
There should be certain qualifications that potential U.S residents should meet like if you are going to live in this country you should speak the language, it's weird that for driver licenses the written test comes in different languages, but all the signs are in English? With the McCain, Barrack, Hillary all saying they want to help illegal immigrants, hopefully whoever wins (the white man always wins) will actually help people stuck in this legal limbo.
